PLEASE NOTE: Green Blender is currently not taking any new orders. Will keep this post updated as things change.

It might come as a surprise but there are times when I am fresh out of ideas for smoothie recipes.

Despite having created and curated the hundreds of smoothie recipes for Blender Babes, I still wonder some days what to put in my blender.

So I was jazzed to do a Green Blender Review so I could give this healthy smoothie and breakfast delivery service, a try.

I guess you can say even head Blender Babe needs a smoothie fairy every now and then.

Before I actually ordered my first box there were things about Green Blender that got me super excited.

With Green Blender you’ll get:

  • 5 easy-to-follow, original recipes with ingredients to make a tasty smoothie for 5 days
  • clear nutritional info and healthy benefits for each recipe
  • fresh, seasonal, mostly organic fruits and vegetables sourced from trusted farms
  • superfoods

...And it all gets delivered right to your door step!

Best Meal Planning App

That means I can take a break from making my own recipes, I don't have to grocery shop and I'll still get my daily dose of healthy, blended goodness without much effort.

I was totally sold!

Also, all of their recipes are pre-tested and approved.

Since I will not post a recipe on Blender Babes that has not crossed my lips first, I like that the Green Blender folks and I are kindred spirits in this way.

Like other internet-based food delivery companies, the first step before creating your Green Blender account is checking availability in your area.

Living in Los Angeles, I rarely encounter a company that won't be able to deliver to me, but I know that's not the case for everyone.

As Green Blender works with several delivery partners they can pretty much ship anywhere.

The only requirement Green Blender has is that you must use a residential or business address for your shipping.

Navigating the Green Blender website is pretty easy.

Since it's a weekly subscription service, you can see which recipes are on tap.

In fact, they actually show you the upcoming 5 weeks.

Though you can't customize the recipes, you can choose which 5 recipes (out of 8) that you would like to receive.

Green Blender Recipes

As flexibility is key for any delivery service, I was happy to see that Green Blender provides a little wiggle room for its subscribers.

In case there's a need, you can skip any of the upcoming deliveries.

This is especially helpful if you are traveling, won't be home or you don't love any of the scheduled recipes or ingredients.

Green Blender won me over again with their eco-friendly packaging.

To me, healthy living is more than just eating well.

It's important that I do the best I can to reduce my carbon footprint.

I liked that my box included an interior lining made from recycled, rapidly renewable plant fiber.

You can dispose of the interior lining in the trash and re-recycle the plastic as well as the box.

As you can see from this Green Blender Review we are clearly eco-friendly kindred spirits!

Included with the box is a recipe card for the 5 smoothie kits inside your box AND the 3 recipes you didn't select.

I thought getting the Green Blender recipes and instructions for all 8 recipes from that week's menu was a cool feature.

Of course, with numerous subscribers and hundreds of boxes being shipped, sending everyone all 8 recipes is the easiest way to go.

For someone like me, having all 8 recipes is ideal because I can still give them a try at later time.

Yes...more smoothie recipes to add to my inventory!

Super Selection of Superfoods

As many of you know, I am BIG on superfoods.

I totally love that Green Blender's recipes include superfoods that give your smoothie the extra boost it needs to keep your body healthy especially when you're on-the-go.

Some of the superfoods Green Blender has used in its recipes are:

Individually, a lot of these superfoods are hard-to-find and expensive.

So having them delivered to your door in your Green Blender box is fantastic!

Plus, Green Blender provides you with information on the health benefits of the superfoods you'll be including in each of your recipes.

This educational component is another thing I like -- so you're not just putting these things into your smoothies without knowing how they will help your body.

SIDE NOTE: Looks like Green Blender and I are 3-for-3 on the kindred spirits tip!

Each smoothie yields two 12oz. servings so you can save some for later or share it.

The only thing is that the recipes are low in calories.

They average about 100-200 calories per each 12 oz.

I typically drink  24 - 32 oz. of green smoothies so Green Blender's was more like a snack for me.

It worked well for me because I love light but nutrient-dense treats throughout the day.

Though I drank most of the smoothies by myself, I did share some of them with my husband Josh.

But due to the low calorie nature of the smoothies (and the baby growing in my belly), about an hour or two later I would have avocado toast or yogurt with fruit and granola.

Tarashaun's Green Blender TipsHead Blender Babe

  • To add more sweetness, nutrition AND calories, I recommend you use a milk substitute as your liquid base instead of water.
  • Be sure to let your fruits ripen some before using them in your smoothie. A ripe pear is so much yummer than not!

Overall, Green Blender has a lot of great things going for it.

At $49.90 per box, the Green Blender cost is definitely a worthwhile delivery option for busy individuals, couples and/or families.

If you find yourself in a smoothie rut and need to add a little variety of fruits, vegetables and superfoods to your diet, Green Blender is a great choice.

Another category of people that would benefit greatly from using Green Blender are those who don't have access to quality produce.

Food deserts are REAL. Not everyone has a farmers market every day of the week like we do in Los Angeles.

Having Green Blender deliver fresh, seasonal, organic fruits and vegetables to your door makes it easier to live healthier.

Green Blender is an affordable option that  offers the ease and convenience that can help you stick with your health goals.

And the smoothies are delicious, too!

I hope you enjoyed my Green Blender Review! Please let me know if you try it or have any questions in the comments.

  1. Could you make a recipe for cashew coffee? I think that would be so yummy!

Also, do you have the winners listed somewhere? Thanks!

  2. I would love to make healthy green smoothies loaded with veggies to help me be healthier and loose weight!

  3. Sandy Klocinski

I’d love to try something with the nut butters. My love of nut butter knows no limits. You can’t go wrong with classic and all-natural peanut. But I’d love to break new ground with macadamia, pistachio, even cayenne-infused sunflower seed butter.

    1. Blender Babes

Mmmm Sandy! I LOVE macadamia cashew butter but I really like the sound of cayenne-infused seed butter too! That would be great for our community that is allergic to nuts. 🙂

  4. Kayte CookWatts

Green smoothies are my favorite, but lately I have been really trying to get out of my “greens rut.” I usually just use spinach or kale so I have tried to experiment with sweeter flavors and use mustard or dandy lion sometimes.

  5. I would love to see more frozen concoctions 🙂 I personally would love to make homemade healthy ice cream and purees.

  6. Yum! Love protein smoothies, such an easy way to get nutrients in a healthy, portable, form. Thank you for the chance to win – added bonus!

  7. Hi, there! For the spinach, you can substitute with Kale or Romaine lettuce and you can use coconut milk instead of the nut milk. As far as the almonds, just omit them. You can add a protein powder as a substitute. Try that out and let me know how it tastes!

  8. I love fruit smoothies with blueberries, but I really want to learn how to use kale and other vegetables more.

  9. Christina Almond

All types but I am a big fan of fruit and almond milk smoothies in the morning! I would love to make soups too–butternut squash soup is a favorite!

  10. I’m interested in blending all sorts of things! Smoothies with frozen fruits and fresh veggies, cauliflower gravy, nomato sauce, blender plantain rolls, homemade fruit gummies, etc. 🙂

  11. I love your site, reviews, and these Amazing and Wonderful Giveaways! Fingers crossed I win an awesome blender 🙂

  12. Jennifer Hedden

I just want to make healthy smoothies with fruits and vegetables. I am looking to lose weight and regain my health so I would love some smoothie recipes for that. Thank you!

  13. Cheryl Germain

I would be interested in blending frozen fruits and vegetables for smoothies, if I won the Vitamix. My blender can not cope with such frozen/thick mixtures

  14. I’d like to blend fresh and frozen fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds. The Vitamix is supposed to be particularly good at all of these.

  15. Thank you so much for introducing us to Green Blender. Can’t wait to try them out. 🙂 Love blending all of my leftover veggies and fruits to make our family’s morning smoothie. Healthy and a great way to use every bit of our produce. Love Blender Babes!

    1. Blender Babe Jassmine

Green Blender is the perfect alternative for smoothie lovers that don’t have time putting together smoothie recipes or to shop for ingredients! You’re welcome, Julie!

  16. I have always wanted a Vitamix! I would use it to blend my daily smoothies: fruits, veggies, yogurt, flax seed.. Yum!

  17. Lots of good information! I like the idea of green blender, but as someone who is trying to cut back on plastic use, I’m a little hesitant to sign up and create all that plastic week after week.

I could compromise for a bit with making sure I recycle the bags in the bins at the grocery store.

I def like this idea instead of the other meal kits because it would be easy to use and I know I would use it!

  18. Mary Beth Elderton

Frozen foods like berries, bananas, spinach, etc are much easier for me to keep on hand…but much more difficult to blend with my stick blender.

  19. Love all the information on this site. I’ve been wanting a Vitamix for a long time now. It would be so awesome to win one! Nets of luck everyone.

  20. Right now my blender has a hard time with just frozen fruits for a smoothie… if I won the vitamix though I’d like to start trying to make it more healthy with some vegetables and some flax or mixes added in. I mean a whole new world will be opened up so it would be time to experiment, who knows what will happen? 🙂

  21. I like to mix bone broth, collagen, spirulina, maca, and so many other healthy greens, and Superfoods. Ever since I’ve been adding these things I’ve gotten much healthier.

  22. Elizabeth Matthiesen

I must admit that I love fruit smoothies more than others, you can always add a bit of veg, hardly noticeable.

  23. Elizabeth Matthiesen

Sounds like a great idea, no need to think about what to make, it all arrives at the front door. 🙂

  24. I’d love to start making smoothies and protein shakes! We’ve been in the market for a blender for awhile now and haven’t decided on one yet. This would be amazing to win! Thanks for the opportunity! Xx
