4 Questions to Ask Yourself When Choosing The Best Vitamix Blender for YOU in 2024
1. How Many People are You Blending for?
If you are blending for a family and you do not want to purchase an additional jar you will want a Vitamix with a tall 64 oz container, such as the iconic and top rated Vitamix 5200 Standard.
If you are a single person and do not want to buy an additional jar for larger blends you will want the blender to come with a 48oz container, such as the budget friendly Vitamix E310.
Otherwise Vitamix now mostly come standard with a low profile 64 oz container - great for fitting underneath most kitchen cabinets but you will need an additional jar for smaller blends. See more about this in “Vitamix Containers...” below.
2. Do you Want Automatic Presets Like a Smoothie Button?
If you want this then you have 5 models to choose from (some with less expensive, certified reconditioned versions). If you don’t care about this feature then I say wait for a great Vitamix sale and grab one based on what you answered to question 1 - which may allow you to also pick up an additional container.
3. Do You Like Features Like a Touchscreen and Timer?
If yes go for the Vitamix A3500 - it’s the best of the best, with every feature they offer. Or go for the A3300 which is exactly the same without automatic presets. If you are more into switches and dials then you have a lot more options to choose from.
4. What is Your Budget?
Vitamix blenders are pricier than other brands, however they are worth the extra investment. You can wait for a Vitamix sale (any Vitamix will be great if the price is right!), take advantage of their interest-free payment plan, or choose one of my best budget picks below.

Why Should You Buy Vitamix in 2024?
There are far too many blenders out there with various cool features and sleek designs and yet they don’t perform as well as Vitamix..
Vitamix has been around since 1921, is a privately owned family company and unlike most other appliance brands, they focus 100% on blenders and accessories.
After nearly 100 years you can bet they have all the power, versatility and durability that you will need.
Having a Vitamix blender in your kitchen is a great addition, so let’s find out more about why you should buy a Vitamix blender.
1. Healthy Lifestyle
Do you want to eat healthy but haven’t found the time? Well, now you can make that possible thanks to Vitamix. Not only you, but your whole family can benefit from this as well.
Whether you want to make healthy smoothies, soups, ice cream or baby food, you can now make these with frozen produce, seeds, nuts and powders in a matter of seconds and get a perfect, smooth texture The powerful motor, blade design and jar lets you blend the toughest of ingredients, puree, grind and crush with ease..
Vitamix blenders are an essential for vegans and vegetarians, those on a budget, and people who are too busy to cook as well as experienced chefs.
2. Variety of Purposes
Vitamix is way more than just the best blender for smoothies. Aside from ridiculously smooth smoothies, you can easily chop ingredients (riced cauliflower, anyone?), make soups, sauces, dips, nut butters, frozen desserts such as ice cream, bread and pizza dough, homemade flour, grind seeds and even thick smoothie bowls like your favorite shop!
Whether it’s for meal time, an after school snack or you’re planning a party (margaritas, anyone?) we have literally hundreds of Vitamix recipes you can make with your blender.
3. Durable, Efficient and Long-Lasting
I’ve had several community members tell me they bought a blender only to have it break within a few months, or conveniently, just after the short and limited 1-year warranty ended. Buying two or three of these types of blenders within a few years would equal the cost of one Vitamix!
The durability of Vitamix blenders is well known. When I was doing blender demonstrations across my state, I had several people tell me “My mom still uses her Vitamix. It’s time for me to get one!”.
When creating these machines, it was essential they be long-lasting and sturdy. That’s why vitamix blenders are engineered to operate for many years with little to no maintenance.
Here is a quote from one of my community members “Warranty and available repair issues were important to me when I purchased my Vitamix. I've now had it over 20 years and only replaced the blades once, so it is a wise investment.” ~ Lee M.
4. Easy to Clean
The simple design of vitamix blenders make them easy to keep clean. The body can be wiped down, the top base (between jar and body) removed and cleaned, and you don’t have to take apart the jar and blade and wash tons of pieces.
To clean your Vitamix container all you have to do is pour warm water into the container, add a bit of dish soap and either use an automatic cleaning program or turn it on to the highest setting and let it run for 40-60 seconds and rinse. That’s it.
Keep in mind that some Vitamix models have containers that are dishwasher safe (Smart System blenders, Explorian Series blenders and Space Saving blenders) and others are not (most Classic models). That said, for the longevity and appearance of the container it’s usually best to wash it by hand. I typically only put it on the top shelf of the dishwasher after a light hand wash if I making sticky such as nut butter or use heavy spices.
5. Best Warranty
When it comes to warranties, Vitamix blenders are the best. Warranty periods alone can tell you a lot about a product. Vitamix offers a 5 year warranty for their space saving personal blenders as well as their (best for a budget) refurbished blenders, a 7-year warranty on all new full-sized Classic models and a 10year warranty for new Smart System blenders.
Vitamix is just promising you that they deliver the best of blenders with long-lasting lifespan and durability. If this doesn’t change your mind about why you should buy a Vitamix blender, then perhaps their no-risk trial will.
6. No Risk Satisfaction Guarantee
30 Day In-Home Trial: Vitamix is so certain that you will see the value and benefits of using your Vitamix each day that they offer an industry leading risk-free 30 day in-home trial.
If you are not completely satisfied and don’t find Vitamix to meet your expectations, you can simply return it within 30 days for a full refund.
They will even pay for return shipping. Vitamix stands behind its products and their commitment to your satisfaction is a top priority.
Vitamix Blenders Costco 2024
There are Vitamix models that are made exclusively for Costco.
One model includes the Vitamix Venturist Pro for $399. While this is a good price for a new Vitamix, this has the exact same features as the Vitamix Venturist V1200 which is sold certified reconditioned from Vitamix.com for less money.
Vitamix blenders at Costco are sometimes available during special roadshows throughout the year that might bundle a blender with another container.
I LOVE Costco - they always have amazing deals on things - however Blender Babes is often able to offer even better Vitamix sales and deals than Costco!

Digital display and programmable timer, pulse, 5 one-touch auto programs (smoothie, frozen dessert, hot soup, purée, and self-clean), and on/off all controlled from its touchscreen - all fully digital.
The only thing that's not part of the touchscreen is its variable 10-speed knob - but even that's digital! Like all Smart System blenders, it includes built-in wireless connectivity which pairs with Vitamix's "Perfect Blend" app (available for iOS and Android), giving you access to 17 programs and over 500 recipes.
With everything new and improved, the container is no exception. The Ascent's 64 oz low-profile container boasts "Smart Detect" technology, which allows the unit to sense which container is affixed to it and adjust auto blend times accordingly.
Also, a new transparent lid allows you to better monitor your blends, as well as snap-locking onto the container to create an even better seal.
What We Love About It:
We’re a big fan of the programmable timer you can set on this model. It's really a toss up between the Classic Vitamix 750 and this model for me.
Do you always get the newest iPhone? If so you love technology and will adore the Vitamix Ascent A3500 (certified reconditioned is a great deal).

The smooth and sleek touchscreen controls look great on the machine and its easy to clean as well. Features such as the variable speed control and pulse feature control allows you to get the best texture out of your recipes.
Let’s talk about the best feature on the Vitamix A2500 - the built-in wireless connectivity. This feature lets the motor base adjust the maximum blending times for the container you’ve
chosen automatically.
The great thing about this machine is that it can detect containers on its own. You can use a range of compatible containers and build your own customized blending sequences that will cater to just what you need.

The comfort and classic feel of the tactile switch and dial with the updated, modern look of the Next Generation G-series.
The Vitamix 750 includes well loved features - 5 preset programs (smoothie, frozen dessert, hot soup, purée, and self-clean) for walk-away convenience, control your blend with 10 variable speeds, a pulse and on/off switch.
Considered to be one of the best vitamix blenders it comes standard with the low profile 64 oz container for medium and large sized blends - which means more accommodating dimensions for counter/storage but may need to purchase an additional container for small blends.

Pros
Cons
6. VITAMIX EXPLORIAN E320 with Programs - Best Vitamix For Families on a Budget
New:
The new Vitamix E320 is sometimes available at Costco.
Certified Reconditioned:
USA Vitamix Explorian E320 with programs
Canada Vitamix Explorian E320 with programs
Overview:
The certified refurbished Vitamix E320 with programs, from Vitamix's Explorian series, is a great choice for new power blender owners and those on a budget.
Since the Vitamix E320 comes with a low profile 64 oz container, it’s great for medium to large sized batches. You may need to buy an additional container if you want to make small portions (I recommend the 32 oz container). At $349 ($240 with out exclusive $100 off promo) this is definitely the best Vitamix blender for the price.
The Explorian E320 with programs has the exact same power (2.2 hp) and features as the (more expensive) refurbished Vitamix Next Generation - with an updated design.
This blender has 3 essential functions - a pulse switch, a variable 10-speed dial, and an on/off switch.
It also includes the 3 most popular automatic settings, smoothie, soup and frozen desserts.
Comes with a tamper to assist your thicker blends.
Recommended: An additional 32 oz container for small blends.
What We Love About It:
We love that the Vitamix Explorian E320 with programs (certified reconditioned) has a price that's hard to beat. It's got the exact same power and features as the more expensive refurbished Vitamix Next Generation models - with an updated design. Honestly it's a no brainer if budget is a big concern.
Pros
Cons
7. VITAMIX 5200 STANDARD - Best Vitamix Classic On a Budget
New:
USA: Vitamix 5200
CANADA: Vitamix 5200
Certified Reconditioned:
USA: Reconditioned Vitamix 5200 Standard
CANADA: Reconditioned Vitamix 5200
Overview:
The iconic Vitamix 5200 delivers top quality performance we expect from Vitamix - and whatever it lacks in extra features, it makes up for in price. No need to purchase an additional container for smaller portions thanks to the classic tall 64 oz container.
This super popular model has the classic beveled face as well as the performance and durability we expect from Vitamix. It features a powerful 2 HP motor, variable 10-speed dial, a high/low switch and on/off switch.
Although it does not have a separate pulse switch, you can achieve a pulse by flipping the on/off switch to equal a pulse.
The benefit of the tall 64 oz standard container is it can blend small, medium and large batches thanks to its narrow 3 inch base.
That said, the 64 oz tall standard container affixed to the base stands 20.5 inches tall so it won’t fit under most kitchen cabinets (which are 18 inches from cabinet to counter). As a work around, many users just place the container next to the base.
It’s also a bit harder to clean due to the tall size and narrow base. It requires a tamper to help move ingredients around much more than the low profile container.
This model is available for a great deal as the Certified Reconditioned Standard.
If price is an issue when determining which vitamix is best to buy, this saves you money since it’s not necessary to buy an additional smaller container for small blends.
What We Love About It:
Another trusted source, America's Test Kitchen, compared the Vitamix 5200 Standard against other Vitamix models and found that it was able to blend anything and everything perfectly, without as much of a need to fill with enough ingredients to ensure a proper blend (as is required with the low profile 64 oz container).
Therefore a one stop shop - no additional Vitamix containers needed to do all-the-things for any sized blend.
Pros
Cons
8. VITAMIX PROPEL 510 - Best Vitamix for Singles who want Programs
NEW:
USA: Vitamix Propel 510
CANADA: Vitamix Propel 510
Certified Reconditioned:
USA: Reconditioned Vitamix Propel 510
CANADA: Reconditioned Vitamix Propel 510
Overview:
The Propel series by Vitamix is a medium level price point for classic styles that also include pre-programmed settings.
I recommend the Propel 510 over the Propel 750 for both the price point and the fact that it comes with a 48 oz container which is desirable for singles, couples and small spaces.
The Propel 510 includes a 2 hp motor and 3 pre-programmed settings that are most popular (smoothie, frozen dessert and hot soup) for the convenience of one-touch walk-away blending, pulse and variable 10-speed slider - are fully controlled on a slick touchscreen.
What We Love About It:
We love that it has all the desirable features with a lower price tag than the Smart System models, including dishwasher safe jars! The certified reconditioned Vitamix Propel 510 is great deal.
Pros
Cons

What We Love About It:
We love that the A2500 is compatible with a range of container sizes and can create a customized blending system that will fit your needs exactly. Pairing the machine with an app is pretty neat too.
The digital timer and built-in wireless connectivity are also some of the features that make this the best Vitamix blender easily. You’re also getting a 64 ounce Low-Profile container, an S2 Low-Profile tamper, a cookbook and the motor base itself!

The versatile blender can blend on its own thanks to the built-in connectivity program. The variable speed and pulse control are also super great features on this Ascent series and is probably our favorite.
Just let your blender take control of the whole process and you’ll get superb textures within minutes.

Vitamix Models Compared
There are three groups vitamix blenders now fall into - Smart System blenders, Classic blenders and Space Saving Blenders Let’s take a high-level look at how these Vitamix models compare.
1. Vitamix Smart System Blenders
Smart System blenders are all the newest offerings from Vitamix. Currently they include the Ascent Series and the Venturist V1200.
These blenders integrate the best features from earlier models and improves upon it, have a sleek design, include more desirable features (i.e. digital or programmable timer, touchscreen), wireless bluetooth technology and the longest warranty (10 years).
They also pair with more Vitamix accessories including all the Self-Detect Containers and the Perfect Blend Scale.
These are the best Vitamix for the money if budget is not much of a concern, simply because they are the future of Vitamix.
My quick recommendations for the best Smart System Vitamix: The certified reconditioned Ascent 3500 with additional 48 oz container or the Venturist V1200 (see if the personal blending cup that it comes with meets your smaller blending needs, if not get a 48 oz container). Note: since these are reconditioned they have a 5 year warranty.
2. Vitamix Legacy Blenders
Vitamix Legacy blenders include their largest selection of dependable, time-tested machines in their signature robust body style. The classic line of blenders were created to give you all the power and features you’ll need to do everything a Vitamix can make, have smoother smoothies and eat healthier.
Legacy blenders, are made up of Classic and Next Generation Vitamix blenders. These include the original “Classic” models (such as the iconic Vitamix 5200 - still widely considered the BEST VITAMIX model) and the newer Next Generation as well as the much older (and NOT recommended) 2-speed or 3-speed blenders.
All Classic models (except the 2-3 speed mentioned above) include 10 Variable speeds. Most have a pulse switch and some have pre-programmed settings. All new models will also include a 7-year warranty.
I will explain all of this in more detail below.
You can never go wrong with a classic and the best part is that they have several Classic Vitamix models available reconditioned. They work great and get the job done, and that’s all that some people need.
My quick recommendations for the best Classic Vitamix models on a budget: A reconditioned Vitamix 5200, a new Vitamix E310, or a reconditioned Vitamix E320 with additional 32 oz container.
3. Vitamix Explorian Blenders
Explorian blenders consist of a new Vitamix E310, a new Vitamix E320 (made for warehouse locations), the Explorian E320 Super Pack (which comes with two, 20-ounce Blending Cups with Personal Cup Adapter that makes it easy to blend in the container and take it with you) and a reconditioned Vitamix E320.
The Explorian E310 is the best Vitamix on a budget for singles, couples and small spaces.
The best on a budget for familes is a reconditioned Explorian E320 purchased with additional 32 oz container.
4. Vitamix One
The Vitamix One is their version of “personal blenders”.
Although Vitamix One is half the power and size of its full-sized Classic and Smart System brothers, it's the best that money can buy in comparison to other popular personal-sized blenders such as NutriBullet and Nutri Ninja models. They’re also really great for travel and very small kitchens.
That said, for the price it’s better to get a full-sized Vitamix. A single veteran with a very small space and limited budget recently wanted to get the Vitamix One and I told him to wait for a Vitamix sale or get the Vitamix E310.
How Many Vitamix Models Are There?
Now let’s take a closer look at all the different Vitamix models individually and what their specialties are.
For those who don’t know, Vitamix blenders are made up of 5 different series of blenders. All of them are totally different from each other as the 5 series came out at different times and have either added or discarded certain features on them.
Without further ado, let’s find out more about the different Vitamix Series available to you.
1. Vitamix Ascent Series Blenders and Venturis V1200 (Smart System Blenders)
First up is the vitamix ascent series which came out in the year 2017. The designs on this series are newer, more compact and come with slim bodies.
The digital timer and wireless connectivity features are probably the greatest thing about this series of blenders. Longer warranty, the ability to use small cups without needing an adapter and the self-detect technology are also great additions.
The machines are quieter, more efficient and faster than the Classic/Legacy blenders.
Please Note: I am also including the Venturist V1200 Smart System blender in the table below. This Smart System blender was created specifically for Costco and it’s an even better deal certified reconditioned (especially since it comes with a 20 oz personal blending cup for single serve/small portions)
2. Vitamix Classic Blenders - Legacy
The Vitamix C-series are the original “classic” blenders in the vitamix line. They have the iconic and robust body design with simple features.
They also have the most blenders that are exactly the same but with different model names (which makes it extra confusing with comparing Vitamix blenders). Back then, Vitamix did this to create specific models for different retail outlets. I’ve included some of the different names in the tables below.
Even though the C-Series come with the widest range of models you can choose from, however, there are only 5 basic ones. There is a two-speed model (not recommended), a variable-speed model with tall 64 oz jar, a variable speed with 3 presets and tall 64 oz jar, a variable-speed model only with low profile 64 oz jar and a variable-speed model with 3 presets with a low profile 64 oz jar.
3. Vitamix Next Generation Blenders - Legacy
The G-series Next Generation Vitamix blenders came out in 2013 with design and features that would improve upon the classic C-series blenders.
With newer bases, enhanced airflow management systems and a new powerful 2.2 HP motor, the G-series is more energy efficient with more desired features than its predecessors.
4. Vitamix Explorian Series Blenders
The Vitamix Explorian Series is for those who want a Vitamix and don’t care about extra features and settings. This series was Vitamix’s answer for a more budget-friendly offering than what it currently had available.
Both the Explorian E310 and E320 are great models that come with simple controls. It has a start/stop switch, a pulse switch and a 10 variable speed control dial - enough to be able to blend anything you want.
The E310 has a 2 HP motor and comes standard with a 48 ozcontainer while the E320 has a 2.2 HP motor and comes standard with a 64 oz low profile container. Both come with a 5-year warranty
5. Vitamix Propel Series Blenders
The Vitamix Propel Series has a similar design to the Explorian Series.
The Propel 510 has 3 of the most popular program settings (smoothies, soup, and frozen desserts), 10 variable speed control dial, start/stop and pulse switch and a 5-year warranty.
The Propel 750 has 5 program settings, 10 variable speed control dial, start/stop and pulse switch and a 7-year warranty.
6. Vitamix One Personal Blender
Let me start by saying that the Vitamix One personal blender (aka space saving blender) is not as powerful and cannot do all the things a Vitamix full-sized blender can do.
Although they are much smaller than full-sized Vitamix blenders with half the power, they were designed to fit under kitchen cabinets and they take up less counter space. They were also created prior to Vitamix offering personal blending cups for to-go blending that consumers were wanting.
The Vitamix One comes with a 32-ounce container. This blender comes with a 2-year warranty.
This is not a blender for a large family as it’s not able to make large batches, however it's an amazing smoothie makerf or singles, college students and those not interested in grinding nut butters and making hot soups.
Vitamix Cleaning
By now, it’s no secret that one of the best features about vitamix blenders is that they are “self-cleaning”.
Unlike other blenders which require you to take it apart and clean the blades, jar and gasket separately, vitamix containers and blade are all one piece (the only exception is the Vitamix personal blending jars and bowls). This makes your cleaning process much easier and faster without causing any leaks or broken seals.
An important tip for any blender user is to clean your jar immediately after you’re done blending. The longer you let the leftovers stay in it, the harder it will be to clean.
I had to teach this to my husband, who loved leaving his green smoothie covered jar in the sink… once I showed him how easy it was to clean he never looked back! Remember it’s just warm water, drop of dish soap, blend and rinse.
Features to Consider When Comparing the Best Vitamix Blenders
Let’s take a look at some important features you should look out for when you’re choosing the best vitamix blender for YOU.
1. Motor Power
All full sized vitamix blenders feature a powerful, commercial grade motor with either a a 2 peak horsepower (older Classic C-series model) or 2.2 horsepower (all Smart System blenders as well as newer Classic models - such as Explorian and Next Generation models).
What’s important to note is 2 horsepowers is absolutely enough to blend all-the-things, such as a perfectly smooth green smoothie which includes lots of seeds like berries, flax, chia, etc. and I have proven this first-hand in any performance comparisons I have done.
The real difference in 2 vs 2.2 horsepower when it comes to Vitamix is the newer models (Smart System, Next Generation, Explorian) have an improved base design with better airflow. Not only can it cool the slightly more powerful 2.2 hp motor more efficiently, this results in quieter blending than the 2 hp models.
2. Speed
Vitamix blenders can generate blade speeds of up to 270 mph (434 km/h), meaning there’s enough speed (and power) to create a smooth, consistent blend.
That said, Vitamix blenders come with a 10 speed variable dial. The lower speeds (rpm) are what help set Vitamix apart from other blenders I’ve tested, allowing for more flexibility so you can create varying textures - think chopping, muddling, emulsifying, etc.
This is one of the reasons (aside from durability) that you will find Vitamix blenders used by chefs in most restaurants.
3. Pulse Control
The pulse feature allows for more precise control of the end product’s texture, especially if you are avoiding a puree. The pulse feature can be used alone or in tandem with the variable speed control or pre-programmed settings.
All Vitamix blenders (except the older/iconic Vitamix 5200 and the 2 or 3-speed Vitamix blenders) have a pulse feature. But even if you go for the Vitamix 5200 or refurbished Vitamix 5200 standard, you can still create a “pulse” by quickly turning the blender on and off to equal 1 pulse. This is what I did long ago since this was my very first Vitamix model and it worked just fine to make my soups or salsas chunky.
4. Pre-programmed Settings
The pre-programmed settings lets the blender do all the work and allows you to walk away from your blender.
Presets are programmed to automatically speed up or slow down to an appropriate level and then shut off once the timed cycle is complete, based on what it is you’re making. All of this is possible just by choosing a preset from the pre-programmed setting.
The presets created are the most popular functions used by consumers which are in order of popularity: smoothies, hot soup, frozen dessert, purees and self-cleaning.
On a rare occasion the presets are not quite enough time to finish your blend. In this case I usually just manually blend for however much longer I need.
4.1. Do you need to have preset programs?
No absolutely not! Any Vitamix with a variable speed dial can do everything you want to make. Some people who have them don’t really even use them.
4.2. Is it nice to have preset programs?
Yes. Personally I prefer having programs. I’m the type that always uses my smoothie or soup setting when making those things. I love choosing the setting and then cleaning up my kitchen (admitted multitasker!) so by the time my blender stops I’ve put everything away. and am ready to g
Although this function doesn’t work on frozen desserts, it will work fine when you’re making smoothies or soups.
There are some users who prefer the blender without the pre-programmes setting function and like the feeling of being under control of what they are making. For them, they can go for blenders without the setting.
However, this is great for those who like to multitask or be more productive with their time. It really depends on the person buying this whether they want this feature on their blender or not, so make your decision wisely!
5. Touchscreen
Modern blenders seem to all be moving towards touchscreen controls. Why?
- Design is sleek and sophisticated
- Easier to see (larger print and it’s backlit)
- Easier to wipe down/clean (food doesn’t hide around the switches)
The biggest concern most people have is how responsive the touchscreen is. Well Vitamix’s first attempt at a Touchscreen was the 780 and yes, there is a small bit of lag time.
This is completely fixed with their new touchscreen models, the Vitamix Ascent A3300 and A3500. They are very responsive.
5.1. Should You Get a Touchscreen Model?
Again it depends on your preferences. If you’re used to switches and dials you may not like it at all OR it just may take some getting used to (it took me years to let go of my blackberry but once I switched to a smart phone after a small learning curve I never looked back).
6. Programmable and Digital Timers
A newer feature currently only available on all Smart System Vitamix blender models is a digital timer. The timer will count up as you blend so you know how long you have been blending for. What is great about this is if you are creating or trying new recipes you will know exactly how long to blend.
Taking this technology one step further is a programmable timer (currently only available on the Vitamix Ascent A3300 and A3500) allowing you to enter the amount of time you want it to blend.
I love this feature for making green juice which needs a good 1.5-2 minutes!
Although I’m a fan of and use this feature (#BlenderNerd) it’s most definitely a nice to have and not necessary at all.
7. Self-Cleaning
Aside from wiping down the body, Vitamix blenders are considered to be “self-cleaning”. You just add a few drops of dish soap to your container, fill it halfway with warm/hot water, blend on the highest speed for 30 to 60 seconds and rinse.
One feature that a few Vitamix models (the ones with 5 presets) have is a cleaning program. You essentially do exactly the same thing except using a preset.
Is this preset nice to have? Sure. Necessary. Nope.
Which Vitamix Container is Best for Smoothies and more
It's hard to decide which Vitamix container is best for all of your needs, and as they continue to expand their already rich assortment of blender containers, I constantly get asked the following questions.
- Which Vitamix container is best for smoothies or peanut butter or ice cream?
- Which Vitamix container is compatible with which models?
- Do I need the Vitamix dry container?
- Do I need an additional Vitamix container and if so which one?
The space in your kitchen, how many people you will be blending for and what type of things you want to make will determine which Vitamix container(s) is best to get for you.
1. Containers and Blades
It’s important to note that all Vitamix blender containers are made with a very hard-to-break plastic called Eastman Tritan copolyester and they are completely BPA free. That’s why they can withstand tough ingredients as well as heat.
Containers include laser-cut, stainless-steel hammermill blades that are not razor sharp, but sharp enough to pulverize ingredients and yes, you still need to be careful when hand-washing.
2. Vita mix Size Comparison with Containers
Most Vitamix models come standard with a 64 oz container.
Kitchen cabinets typically measure 18 inches (45.72cm) from the bottom of the cabinet to the counter. Since Vitamix blenders with a tall 64 oz container do not fit this and having a low profile was so desirable, all newer Vitamix models that came out after the Vitamix 5200 came with a low-profile 64 oz container (or a 48 oz like the Vitamix E310).
Tall Standard 64 oz Vita mix Container
The tall 64 oz container is not only iconic, it’s also an all-in-one jar that can do large and small batches thanks to its narrow container and 3-inch wide bottom. People don’t usually need to buy an additional jar if they have this one.
Pros
Cons
Recommendations: The Vitamix 5200 Standard (or get the Standard with 3 Presets!) if it fits in your kitchen. However, if you DO NOT need to make large batches and want something smaller, get the Vitamix E310.
Low-Profile 64 oz Vitamix Containers
The low-profile containers have a 4 inch wide bottom which allows for slightly faster blending and also provides more room for the food to circulate requiring less need for a tamper than the more narrow and tall 64 oz container. This also makes it easier to hand wash.
The low-profile container is great if you are making large batch-sizes. It requires at least 2 cups of ingredients to at least cover the blade so it can blend properly.
That said, the only downside is that you if you want to make smaller batches (a single serve smoothie, sauces and dressings, etc.) you will need an additional jar.
Pros
Cons
Recommendations: A 48 oz Self Detect container if you purchase a Smart System Blender or a 32 oz wet blade container if you purchase a Vitamix Classic blender that comes with a low-profile 64 oz container.
3. Do You Need the Vitamix Dry Container?
The short answer? Probably not.
The dry container blade assembly is built specifically for grinding dry ingredients like whole grains, rice, seeds and spices. It’s also used for batter and kneading dough.
That said, I have tested grinding grains, making batters and dough in the 64 oz containers and it works just fine. A LOT of grinding in a non-dry container, however will eventually dull the blade. So if you do plan to make a lot of homemade flour and other types of grinding then it’s recommended to get the additional dry container.
4. Other Types of Vitamix Containers
Vitamix has an “Aer Disc” container which is amazing for muddling (great if you LOVE making cocktails!), whipping and emulsifying. It’s a nice-to-have container and I think the perfect gift for a Vitamix owner.
Compatible With: All full sized Classic and Smart System Blenders.
Other notable containers are the 20 oz personal blending cup for those who like to blend-and-go (need the Personal Cup Adaptor for Classic models.

Best Vitamix Blenders FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions by those who both own vitamix blenders and those who are curious to know more about them.
Q: Where are Vita mix blenders made?
Vitamix blenders are designed and made in America at their corporate headquarters located in Olmsted Township, Ohio. There are a couple of small components that are not available in the USA and they do have to purchase them elsewhere, which is why they are not able to claim "Made in America", however these blenders are assembled in the USA.
Q: My biggest concern is the cost. I have a fixed income. Which Vitamix blender is best on a budget?
Price is the biggest hesitation for most when it comes to buying a Vitamix. Their most budget friendly blenders are usually certified reconditioned Vitamix and a new Explorian E310.
Luckily they do offer a no-interest payment plan through Paypal which has helped many of our community members finally buy a Vitamix.
All that said, they have some really good sales throughout the year, many that are exclusive to their trusted affiliates (such was Blender Babes!) so be sure to check out my Vitamix Sales and Deals post which I update frequently or join my mailing list to be notified.
Q: What is aVitamix juicer?
All full sized Vitamix blenders are powerful enough to make a whole food juice, pulverizing all the skin and seeds and liquefying everything, including the fiber that a traditional juice extractor removes. For a longer lasting Vitamix juice, you can also consider the Void Vacuum Vitamix retrofit kit.
Q: Will I use it enough?
Ideally you will use your Vitamix for more than just smoothies. Luckily, that’s where Blender Babes comes in! When you forward your purchase confirmation email to freegift@blenderbabes.com not only will you receive our 21 Day Green Smoothie Challenge, Top Soups and Top Ice Creams eBooks as our free gift to you, you will also become a part of our blending-loving tribe.

Our community has used their Vitamix to make green juices, soups, ice cream, sauces, dips and spreads, salad dressings and even homemade flour! You can too!
Q. Which is the Quietest Vitamix
Every high-performance blender is loud when it’s being used at high speed unless it has a sound enclosure, like the Vitamix Quiet One blender used in commercial smoothie shops.
However, full-sized Vitamix blenders are on the quieter side than other high-performance blenders out there. That said the Ascent Series are the quietest Vitamix blenders while the older Classic models (like the Vitamix 5200) are the loudest.
Q. Can You Put Vitamix Containers in the Dishwasher?
All Self-Detect Vitamix jars are dishwasher safe, as well as the low profile 64 oz containers that come on newer classic models like the Next Generation and Explorian Series. The 64 oz tall standard container, 48 oz container and 32 oz containers that go with Classic blenders are not dishwasher safe.
Q. Can You Clean a Vitamix Blade Assembly In the Dishwasher?
The blades for the 8-ounce blending bowls and 20-ounce cups are all dishwasher safe. Nevertheless, just to be safe, make sure to wash it on the top rack of your dishwasher.
Q. Do Vitamix Blades Need Sharpening?
Typically, no. vitamix blenders don’t need sharpening because the blades themselves are hammermill blades and their job is to crush and grind instead of slicing. That said, if you use your wet container to do a lot of grinding (rather than using their special dry grains container) it will eventually dull the blade which then needs to either be sharpened or the entire jar be replaced. Vitamix no longer sharpens blades for free.
Q. What Is the Best Vitamix Blender On the Market?
The best Vitamix blenders on the market, as listed in my quick picks are: The Vitamix A3500, The Vitamix A3300 and The Vitamix 750
Q. Do All Vitamix Blenders Make Hot Soup?
Yes, all full-sized Vitamix blenders are able to make hot soup in about 5-7 minutes.
Q. Can I Put Boiling Water in Vitamix?
Yes, absolutely you can blend hot liquids in a Vitamix. The BPA-free Eastman Tritan copolyester can handle hot liquids even if it’s boiling. The special vented lid is designed to release the steam. Vitamix blenders can heat soups to a steamy temperature of 170°F. So, it’s highly recommended that you don’t add anything to your container that exceeds that temperature.
Q. How Do Vitamix Blenders Compare With Other Models?
In terms of quality Vitamix blenders can really only be compared to other top blender brands, the most notable is Vitamix vs Blendtec blenders.
Many other brands try hard to imitate Vitamix since they are the best, but few really come close in terms of durability, reliability, power, and performance.
You can see all of my blender comparisons here.
Q. What Ingredients Can You Blend With Vitamix Blenders?
Vitamix blenders can pulverize just about any whole food ingredient you can think of. Fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, sugarcane, seeds, and nuts.
Q: How long does a refurbished Vitamix blender last?
A: Refurbished Vitamix blenders, just like new, last more than 3x longer than most of its leading competitors. Often they last far longer than their warranty.
Q: Can you use a Vitamix blender as a grinder?
A: Yes you can. The dry containers of most Vitamix blenders are designed to handle any ingredients like coffee beans, grains, seeds, cinnamon sticks, etc. however, if you need to make a dough, you can even do it in your wet container.
Q: Can you chop vegetables in Vitamix?
A: It’s incredibly easy to chop vegetables in Vitamix blenders. Most of its blenders come with a pulse function that lets you chop any vegetables for soups and other dishes. However it's not a clean chop. The Vitamix food processor is a true food processor and is highly recommended for more serious chopping.
Q. I Have Concerns About Utility Bills, are Vitamix Blenders Relevant For My Use?
There is no need to worry at all, Vita mix blenders are energy efficient and will exert minimal utility bills.
Q. I Travel a Lot; Which Model of The Vitamix Range of Blenders Best Suits My Lifestyle?
The Vitamix One personal blender has been discontinued, you will want to get a full-sized Vitamix that can do it all and shoulld consider an Explorian E310 or if size is the main issue (fit in a suitcase!) perhaps a NutriBullet blender would be better for travel.

In conclusion, I hope my extensive guides and info helped you pick which vitamix blender to buy that’s best for YOU! May your meal prepping be easier, your precious time saved and may you start living healthier!
