DR. OZ 3 DAY DETOX LUNCH SMOOTHIE DRINK

This green smoothie drink by Dr. Oz. is the lunch drink used in his 3 day detox cleanse.

Dr. Oz says that as your bloating begins to subside while using this lunch drink, it will begin to replenish your body by packing in 5 essential greens.

We love this detox smoothie (and it’s refreshing flavor that tastes a bit like sweet grass). Why?

Because it gives us essential omega’s AND keeps us from getting hungry. It also includes good-for-you healthy fats from the coconut oil.

Furthermore, make sure to keep the skin on the cucumber if it’s organic, it’s the healthiest part which we learned from Dr. Oz years ago!

Although just be sure to clean it with a special wash to remove pesticides and such if you don’t buy an organic cucumber.

We recommend making fresh almond milk for this 3 day detox, as it will give you much needed healthy fats, calories, and nutrition over store bought brands.

Note that you do not need a high powered blender to participate in Dr. Oz 3 Day Detox Cleanse!

You can use these tips on making green smoothies in a regular blender.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL AND CUCUMBERS

Coconut oil (fats) have particular fats called medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). It’s been shown that breaking down these particular healthy fats in your liver results in efficient burning of energy.

Further, it increases the body’s metabolism by removing stress on the pancreas; thereby burning up more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their body weight.

Additionally, Cucumbers are good for the skin. The silica in the peel helps reduce wrinkles and boost collagen. Buy them unwaxed if possible. (Source: Dr. Oz)

  1. Hey I’m starting this today just got finished my tea. How long can I continue this for if I feel I can go longer than 3 days? Or I was thinking of doing the 3 days once a month. So my question is, is there a limit?

    1. That’s a good question Akilyah! Once a month sounds reasonable, and you can probably go longer than 3 days but you should probably check with your healthcare practitioner first who knows your medical history. Hope you enjoy it! Keep us posted. 🙂 HAPPY BLENDING!

  2. I don’t care for pineapple at all, can I substitute something else for it in the lunch smoothie? Like strawberries, etc…
    Thanks! Karen

    1. Hi Karen! Yes absolutely! You can sub with what you like. 🙂 It may change the sugar content slightly but a fruit for a fruit should be good. HAPPY BLENDING!

    1. Yes absolutely, as long as your blender can handle it! 🙂 If it’s a regular blender, you might want to let the frozen fruit soften a little. If it’s a blendtec or vitamix or other high powered blender, you can absolutely use frozen fruit and probably omit any ice. 🙂 HAPPY BLENDING!

        1. Hi Carolina! Dr Oz’s 3 day smoothie detox does a great job at helping flush toxins. We always recommend continually detoxing (eat healthy and detoxing foods and limit toxic intake). You can always make the weight loss smoothies, even prior to this. Let us know how it works for you! HAPPY BLENDING!

  3. I was wondering If I can make all 9 smoothies ahead of time, and freeze them? If so how long do they take to thaw?

    Thank you in Advance

    1. Hey Jessica,

Yes absolutely. You can take the breakfast smoothie out to thaw at night and then the the other two out in the morning. You may want to taste all three as you’re making. Some people might not love 1 of the smoothies and will make more of one they do like to replace it. 🙂 HAPPY BLENDING!

  4. Can you make the lunch smoothie in advance? Also, I don’t have a high power blender so I was going to juice the vegetables. Is that ok?

    1. Hi Alexandra! You can make the smoothies up to a day in advance and still enjoy their nutritional benefits. If you’re using a centrifugal juicer, you’ll need a lot more fruits and veggies to produce the same amount of beverage, but it would work. The resulting drink would also have less fiber as the pulp is removed in the juicing process. Happy Blending!!

  5. Need some advice on ingredients for a HIGH FAT, LOW CARB, ZERO SUGAR smoothie/blender drink for cancer patient on Ketogenic diet. Ultimate ratio is 2%carb/8%protien/90%fat. It is difficult, I hope for some assistance for ingredient suggestions. So far, Coconut Oil is perfect, Heavy cream is good….any other suggestions?

    1. Hello Enya, thank you for reaching out to us – I imagine it must be hard coming up with these smoothies. I would recommend avocado in addition to the coconut oil and heavy cream. You can try a smoothie with 6-8oz heavy cream (or half cream, half alkaline water), 1 avocado, and 1 Tbsp coconut oil, and 1 cup ice to keep it cold. To sneak some more nutrition in there you can also try adding a handful of spinach and make it taste better with a little bit of vanilla extract. If you use more ice (3-4 cups) you will end up making an ice cream as well (if you have a high powered blender). Hope that helps!! Best wishes and prayers to you and your patient! xoxo ~Blender Babe Tarashaun

Dr Oz's lunch detox drink is probably the least favorite of the 3 for most people, thanks for sharing your input! I would definitely add some Stevia to taste so you can get it down. For a detox, usually it's not recommended to add protein powder, but definitely for a daily green smoothie meal replacement you can add protein! 🙂 During school time I would recommend making the drinks and freezing them, then taking them with you to school 🙂

  7. today is day 2 of the 3 day detox smoothies. While day 1 was not so hot for the lunch smoothie I gave it another try. It's better but definately not my favorite. I'd rate the breakfast as the best, then dinner then lunch smoothies. Dinner one day 1 was soso but more tolerable than day 1 of lunch! I might add 1 packet of stevia which is about 1/3 tsp. to my lunch on day 3 and maybe even tonight with my dinner. I do wonder though when you do a detox is okay that you aren't getting much protein? Or could I add some protein powder like 1 tsp of rice protein? I don't do whey protein due to stomach issues. Anyway not sure if this would mess up the detox or not. Glad I'm able to do this over the summer when I'm not working! Lots of water and detox foods equals lots of trips to the bathroom! Not so easy to do when working at a school Sept.-June.

  8. do I make the lunch smoothie and drink the entire 2-3 cups worth? This seems like a lot! Mine made about 3 cups worth and I'm not sure I can drink all of it. Could I drink say 2 cups for lunch then drink the final cup for an afternoon smoothie snack?

    1. Blender Babes

Yes, you can absolutely drink 2 cups and drink the rest for a snack. Drink whatever works best for YOU! 🙂 As you continue to incorporate more green smoothies into your lifestyle, you will notice that you are able to drink more. I started out at 2 cups like you, now I can drink about 4! My body craves it! 🙂 Let us know how it goes and please rate the recipes you try for our community benefit. xoxo ~Blender Babes

      1. good to know I can divide it up a bit. I only have a magic bullet to make my smoothies and boy oh boy was this thick and sorry to say but I did not like the lunch smoothie at all. I had to “choke” it down! But the recipe I had from the Dr. Oz show did not list 2 cups of ice! I think that will help. I’m a better judge of how much when give specifics such as cups of this or that . . .so 4 celery stalks and a cucumber for me was hard to figure out. There are varying sizes and well I think I did too much celery and too much cucumber! Looking forward to trying this again on day 2 with a few adjustments and adding ice! It wasn’t that bad it was just so thick . . . .I managed to drink about 1 2/3 cups but I still have about 1 1/3 cup in the fridge – still too full to drink and may not since it was so thick. Also on the recipes it will call for say spinach or kale but I’m doing the amount in power greens instead so I think I get some extra boost there as well. Due to GERD I cannot do the cayenne for my dinner smoothie but I feel cayanne is important so I will take a “cool” cayanne supplement that is much easier on my stomach etc. Oh I was wondering how many days straight can one do this detox? Could you go for up to 6 days?

        1. Blender Babes

Yeah a magic bullet can’t make these types of green smoothies super duper smooth (and much easier to get down!). A lot of recipes forget to add ice! And if the blender starts to warm the produce, then the live enzymes start to die. We personally prefer cold smoothies, so ice and/or frozen fruit is a necessity! Agree, in terms of amounts we will try and make it a measurement amount instead of the number of type of product which can vary. 🙂 So glad that you have a cayenne supplement, which is not only good for you but such a powerful flavor in a smoothie probably better to omit it! You can go for up to 6 days, yes but you can also try adding 1 meal a day made up of just fruits & vegetables. 🙂

  9. StacyBrandon Madrid

This may sound silly, But do I drink my normal amount of water with this detox? I usually drink lemon water.

    1. Blender Babes

Yes absolutely Stacy, and a very valid question. Lemon water is wonderful for detoxing so go ahead and continue with your normal amount of water, it will help you flush toxins even more. 🙂 Welcome to our Blender Babes community! xo

    1. Blender Babes

We recommend doing 1-3 days of Dr Oz's 3 day detox. Just remember these green smoothies ARE specifically for detoxing – and somewhat taste like it! Try adding 1-2 dates, stevia, or raw honey if you need it sweeter. 🙂 Keep us posted! Happy Blending! xo Blender Babes
