Run For Hope LA Marathon Remembering Mary Katherine Walker

♥ In Honor and Support of Bryan & Mary Walker ♥
Blender Babes is Donating $20 for EVERY VITAMIX SALE to Bryan/Mary’s fundraising page until March 9th 2014 AND…

I hope this finds you and your family doing well! Thank you for taking the time to look over this as it is something very dear to me.

On March 9th 2014 I will be running in the Los Angeles Marathon in memory of my sister Mary Katherine Walker, who passed September 28, 2008. Mary had a heart as big as the world and a love for animals, life, and others.

I have dedicated myself in training before or after my day job selling Vitamix blenders, and on my days off consistently the last 9 months. Mary has been the driving force every time I have laced up my shoes, and been with me every step of the way. My Vitamix has also played an important role in making amazing smoothies and juices for nourishment and fuel for my runs and workouts. I don’t know what I would do without my Vitamix!

To honor Mary’s life I am asking family and friends to contribute any amount to a cause very dear to her, human trafficking. I have joined the Run for Hope team in her name, an official charity of the LA Marathon. All proceeds raised will go directly to the human trafficking program at the Dream Center, which rescues, rehabilitates and restores adult female survivors.

Remembering Mary Walker

My goals are to complete the marathon in under 4 hours and with your help raise a total of $3,000 to help in these survivors putting their lives back together.

Here is a link to Mary’s fundraising Page on Dream Center where you can make any donations.

Whether you are able or not to donate any money please take a minute to watch one or both of these short tribute videos to remember Mary’s life. Make sure your volume is on. 🙂

  1. The first few times I did the share, I just shared on Google+, as I mis-read the instructions, and was wondering if you could nullify those entries vs disqualifying me. Thanks!

  2. I’m changing my diet to vegan so smoothies, soups and frozen desserts are my go to meals now. With only single item – Vitamix – all of this will be possible! I won’t be angry with chunks in GGS and be able to make my own ice-cream!! Because of that my skin will clear and glow, my hair and nails will grow strong and beautiful, my inner health will be balanced and that will change my personal and professional life! Because Vitamix is sooooo expensive, I can’t afford it now, but hope to be the lucky one in your contest 🙂 Btw thanks for your great recipies and all the other stuff!

  3. A Vitamix might change my life because it is more durable and powerful than an ordinary blender. I not only make a large number of fruit smoothies, but I entertain quite often. I could confidently use Vitamix everytime i wanted to mix or puree, without being concerned about it breaking down on me at the worst possible time.

  4. I would love to make green smoothies so I can get enough nutrients from greens and veggies to improve my health.

  5. I would love to be able to make healthy food for my family. I am committed to living a healthy life and love learning new ways to make my family healthy and happy. I know a Vitamix would make it so fun & easy for me & my family to make healthy recipes to keep us on the path of healthy, happy living!

Since hubby & I have now turned 60, we have been trying to eat better, using live food as much as possible. I deal with RA, auto-immune and complications, so juicing and smoothies are the best way, plus the Vitamix is great to making natural snacks, soups, etc. Also, thank you for choosing the Dream Center to support. Tommy Barnett and his son Matthew are awesome men of God with so many outreach programs in a hurting world. Blessings

  8. After reading all the comments here from people wanting to win a Vitamix I will not enter the contest. I already own a Blendtec so I will leave the contest to those with more need for it. I am diabetic and this past summer I switched from a normal North American diet to an almost completely plant based diet. I make green smoothies and carry them with me in the truck as I go about my work. For now I have eliminated fast food, fruit, sugar, I use a bit of maple syrup, being the all Canadian boy that I am. I eat a bit of fish, a bit of dairy and a bit of chicken. No more bleached whit bread. No donuts, no potato chips or french fries. I did not purchase my Blendtec from Blender Babes because at the time there was a glitch on their website that would not allow me to order from Canada, but I’m sure my Blendtec works the same.

    1. Thanks Amsey! We are so happy you found a healthier way of eating – and am sure it has been AMAZING for your diabetes! It’s stories like yours that are an INSPIRATION to us and our readers. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!! Happy Blending! xoxo ~The Babes

  9. Winning a Vitamix Blender would be a game changer in helping become healthy again for myself and family. Eating all those fruit and veggies I don’t like but know they are so good for my body to become healthy. Plus the tons of other things I can make the healthy way.

I would be able to make more things, and I would be able to make more healthy food for my family.

  11. I am fighting adult acne and as no medication/cremes/lotions would work sufficiently I started changing my way of eating. With a vitamix I would be able to greatly increase the amount of vegetables (antioxidants, vitamins) in my daily diet and hereby support fighting my acne.

I would LOVE to have a vitamix! I have been trying to save up for one, but something else always happens 🙁 thats how it goes lol… i have celiac and my daughter has crohns disease, we have completely changed our way of eating. This vitamix would be perfect! Thank you!

GO RAW EATING!! This blender is the only last step I need to be a full raw eater. It simply makes everything a human being can dream of in terms of being at its full capacity physically.

  14. I think it’s great that you’re giving away a high quality blender! They are such a beneficial staple in any kitchen, especially as part of a healthy lifestyle! I could make much use out of it not just for me but for my family. I would love to graduate from my single serving blender to such a nice, high powered one! One of the first (but definitely not the only..) things I would do is try a smoothie recipe that actually calls for ice! Oh! The possibilities!

  15. In order to feel better and heal my body from the inside-out, I have decided to change my diet and incorporate more raw, living foods. A Vitamix would help me create healthy, delicious, and nutritious meals in the most efficient manner possible. This is so important because I am a busy college student who is also working part-time in order to help fund my college education. There is never enough time in the day but with a Vitamix I will be able to eat healthier with the push of a button!

  16. Smoothies are a quick, easy and delicious way to get in lots of veggies and fruits. And a Vitamix would make my smoothies so much better!

  18. Oh my goodness would a vitamix change my life! My daughter was born with a congenital heart defect that will require surgery(ies) at some point. I started learning about nutrition to give her body the best fuel I could, and I absolutely believe that is why she has made it to three years without surgery when we originally prayed she could hold off to six months. I hadn’t known about green smoothies, but the baby food I gave her on occasion mixed fruit and spinach so I gave it a try. Her baby sister arrived recently, and it would be wonderful for our whole family to have access to the nutrition that a vitamix makes more easily available. Our blender wasn’t cutting it and actually did right before hubby deployed (he hasn’t met little sis yet, and boy would it be awesome to be able to throw things right in without any hassle – and without explaining to hubby why I spent so much on baby pictures and a new mattress AND a blender!).

  19. Owning a Vitamix would TOTALLY change my life!!! I have recently gone back to school and am studying invasive cardiology. I am 41 and have committed to a healthier lifestyle. 5 years from now, I don’t want to be the one on the cath lab table! I have incorporated a whole food diet into my lifestyle and a Vitamix would really help me when preparing my make-ahead healthy meals for the week. I so totally hope I win this!!

  20. I love smoothies! It has been a life changer for adding in more veggies and fruits. My whole family loves smoothies now! Have been wanting to own a vitamix for a while now!!! 🙂

  21. Nicole Berlucchi

This would enable me to get beyond the capability if my kitchen blender to make healthy delicious smoothies and food not only for me but also for my husband and three kids. I’m always looking for ways to incorporate fruits and veggies into their diet in an enjoyable way.

  22. Mary Beth Elderton

I think that owning a Vitamix would be a great step in our continuing process of switching to eating only whole foods cooked from scratch at home. I’m thinking of nut meals and butters, cauliflower “rice,” and fresh salsas and pestos.

  23. I love this! Owning a vitamix blender would totally change my life. I borrowed my friend’s this past weekend and I have made delicious smoothies, tons of ice cream (lots of containers in my freezer to last me since I do not have a vitamix I need to stock up). I also made a pecan banana cream pie! I eat almond butter daily, and made tons of almond butter in bulk, that should last me a few weeks. I have spent so much money this weekend because I know I will only have this weekend to enjoy my blending. Owning a vitamix will change my life because I can make fresh smoothies and fresh almond butter whenever I want! I put chia seeds in my smoothies, but I am unable to do that with the current blender that I own, because it does not grind up good, like it does with the vitamix. I absolutely am in love with the vitamix and it would be my dream to win a free one! They are so darn expensive! But worth it! If I do not win, I will be saving up to buy one sooner or later!
