DR. FUHRMAN’S GOT GREENS SMOOTHIE RECIPE
This is Dr. Fuhrman got green smoothie recipe, so there’s NO QUESTION it’s a nutritious powerhouse!
Dr. Joel Fuhrman is an American board-certified family physician who specializes in nutrition-based treatments for obesity and chronic disease.
We absolutely love the creamy rich texture (not to mention satiating healthy fat) the avocado provides.
The pineapple and kiwi and of course banana give Dr. Fuhrman green smoothie such a tropical taste, you will wish you were drinking it on a warm beach somewhere.

If kiwi is not in season, we recommend substituting with 1 cup of strawberries and the juice of one lime, which has tons of cleansing qualities as well. Don’t have a Blendtec or Vitamix blender?

Will this raise the blood sugars of diabetics?
Just made this, was not sure if I would like it- my first green smoothie. I really love it. I am so amazed that I like it. I work 12 hr night shifts and get 1 break- tried take about 35-40 min. We get 1 -30 min break and 2-15 min breaks if possible. I just re- started this program two days ago, biggest problem is work- I take a salad can beans nuts etc, I wait till I get to work to add tomatoes English cumber and any veg’s that would cause the salad to get wet. It takes time just to prep my salad and them to eat it- so I go in the back room get my place mat that I brought to work prep my salad- cut veg’s put beans in the microwave- like it warm them place salad on a large dish I brought in from home- rather eat from dish then plastic container. Will then check with my co- workers that everything ok and let them know I am taking my dinner break. I am nurse on a very large city hospital- I work every weekend 12 hr nights and one eight hr night during the week. So, made this blended salad to use has my lunch. I put all four cups in a qt bottle- most likely will need to stay at work all weekend- due to snow.
Ok, extra long report. Tried this you will like it.
Trying give this 5 stars just will not take 5 stars.

Hello Jennifer and WELCOME to Blender Babes You can freeze them and then take them out to thaw the night before a busy morning, but in the fridge they will only be good for about 24 hours. Hope that helps! 🙂 HAPPY BLENDING!
When you make these smoothies do you freeze or refrigerate other servings for next day?
Welcome Diana! Yes, you can use any high powered blender to make a green smoothie. We actually think the Ninja is a good 3rd choice after a Blendtec or Vitamix, especially if you are mostly making green smoothies. 🙂 Let us know if you test this recipe and rate it for our growing community! 🙂 xo
Can you use a Ninja blender?
The Green Shakes say they are 3 1/2 servings, do you freeze them for use for next day?
Hello and Welcome Jen! 1 serving is usually 1 cup, however most people drink between 16oz and 32oz as “1 serving” especially when it’s a meal replacement vs a snack. If I do have leftovers I freeze it in either ice cube trays and use for future smoothies or I’ll freeze in a mason jar and thaw it the night before I have a busy morning and need to run out the door. 🙂

can you please share the recipe? Love to try it
Spot on with this write-up. I’ll probably be back again to read more, thanks for the advice!
We do a smoothie with kale, collards, tumeric, hot peppers, shitake, coconut oil, walnuts, kiwi, lime, stawberries and Muscle Milk. I also add some yogurt. It lasts all day, sometimes we eat part for breakfast, part for lunch. We love how this makes us feel.
Wow Tyanne, that sounds like an extremely interesting smoothie! We would love to test it out. Can you please email with approximate measurements of amounts of all for our test kitchen? If it makes the site you will be credited. 🙂 Thx for sharing!! xo
I was reading about a green smoothie concern with high oxalate levels that can cause crystals that damage tissue. Should this be a concern with green leafy veggies?
Hi Julie! Great question. We think green smoothies are good for you, but here is an article by one of our favorite nutritionists about the subject. She answers it better than we can. 🙂 xoxo ~Blender Babes
Sounds absolutely delicious!
Question. I’m allergic to bananas. It seems like so many juices and smoothies have bananas in them. Do you know of a good substitute or should I just leave them out?
Hi Kristie! We understand! Avocado (1/4 to 1/2 depending on how many calories/healthy fats you want to add) and mangoes are good substitutes for banana to get the same creamy texture – but definitely omitting them is an option too!! 🙂 Hope that helps! Luv, Blender Babes
