Makes perfect traditional ice pops, but...
From the wife: I liked this enough that I ended up buying a second one, however, it is not perfect. It's easy to use and easy to clean. I have blended up my own fruit recipes, used straight up fruit juice and created my own custom concoctions, and they have all been a big hit and go fast. The pop molds are made of clear (BPA-Free) plastic, and the flat surface top (not the lid) is stainless steel. The blue plastic lid just rests on top of the steel surface, providing support for the ice pop sticks to remain upright.Let's talk about this lid for a second, because it is the only part of this product that is less than awesome. When thawed out, it rests on the top with even a bit of room around the edges of the lid. It doesn't snap on. It literally just rests on the top. HOWEVER, it then freezes to the steel surface. So, it does take some finessing to pry that sucker off. Through trial and error (and one broken lid), my husband discovered that using the long flat handle of a ladle does the trick. Just slide it under the lip of the lid and then across the surface breaking whatever seal was created in the freezing process. I do this between each set of sticks and that works. Now I use saran wrap on one, and just make slits with a knife where I want the sticks and then put in the sticks. I still use the lid on the other and the hassle of removing it is really no big deal with the ladle handle. And to be fair, the design of this mold is pretty straightforward and I'm not sure how they'd avoid the fusion of the lid to the surface really.Once the pops are frozen, I just run warm water over the molded forms and then give the stick a tug and a wiggle, and voila! tasty, healthy goodness!I don't bother with the lid or saran wrap once they are frozen when I put it back in the freezer. These barely last a week in our house, so there's no freezer burn issues or anything like that. Despite the lid issue (which is really no big deal), these are my favorite ice pop molds. I love the traditional look and the fact that I can make 10 at a time.
