Why Mega Foods over New Chapter ? New Chapter whole foods prenatal has a lot of positive reviews, but I believe the consumers have been misinformed or have not done enough research. First of all New Chapter's prenatal does not have adequate folate. It only contains 400 mg when you need 800-1,000. Recent studies have shown that some people may need even more than that! Personally I feel better knowing Mega Foods has 800mg and then I get added folic acid from my daily food intake. Another great thing about Mega foods is that it contains NO SOY! New Chapter actually includes various soy based nutrients. If you are trying to conceive and/or are pregnant any soy products are a bad idea! Soy increases estrogen in your body which can throw off your natural hormone balance and negatively impact your baby's development. Now an occasional cup of soy milk or miso soup isn't going to harm you or your baby, but consuming a product daily with soy can. New chapter includes a pro biotic within the prenatal itself. I believe its far better to consume a pro biotic on its own and take it at a separate time than your prenatal.
Also worth noting is that Mega foods contains no gluten, no dairy, and no sugar. This makes it a fantastic prenatal and breastfeeding supplement for those who suffer from allergies and/or have blood sugar problems.
I recommend taking Nordic Naturals DHA supplement along with this prenatal vitamin and also add in a good Cal/Mag supplement and Carlson's D3 drops to give you and your baby everything you need.

I have also used the Megafood Women's multivitamin and the B-vitamins with great results. Unlike other vitamins, they do not make me feel nauseous or sick, even if I take them on an empty stomach. I do hate the way that they smell (especially as a pregnant woman), but the smell is more bearable if I quickly chug the vitamins down quickly with food or juice. It's a small price to pay for vitamins that I my stomach is actually able to tolerate. Another reason I stick with Megafood is because the vitamins are food-derived, which means my body is better able to absorb the proper nutrients instead of me peeing them all out. I did hours of research trying to find a prenatal vitamin that supplied Folate, instead of Folic Acid and did not find any others that compared. Now if Megafood could only lower their prices a bit...(I guess you get what you pay for).
I have been taking the pills for 2 weeks and do not notice any side effects. I think I am overall more energetic and active. The pills have a smell that I don't have problem with (very similar to vitamin C). They are large, but I also don't have problem swallowing them (while I do with some much smaller capsules that are football-shaped). And they don't upset my stomach when I take them without food, as the company claims.
It's on the pricey side but I think it's worth it, since very few prenatal multivitamins use natural folate.
