KIMBERLY SNYDER’S GLOWING GREEN SMOOTHIE

This is one of our FAVORITE go to green smoothie recipes of all time.

Kimberly Snyder is a highly sought after nutritionist and for many of the entertainment industry’s top celebrities, and author of The Beauty Detox Solution.

Kimberly’s first book was published in 2011 and has drawn praise from celebrities and experts including Dr. Mehmet Oz, Drew Barrymore, Fergie, LeAnn Rimes, Josh Duhamel, Hilary Duff, Olivia Wilde, Channing Tatum, Teresa Palmer, Vince Vaughn, Jillian Barberie, Tom Hiddleston, Abigail Spencer, Kevin James, Chris Hemsworth, Owen Wilson, and of course, Blender Babes!

We love Kimberly Snyder and have featured many of her Beauty Detox recipes in addition to Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie in our celebrity recipe section.

Drink this Glowing Green Smoothie (aka GGS) daily!

Yes! You read right! Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie could be a daily staple. It features lots of greens, and fruit to help balance that “green” taste.

The lemon gives cleansing benefits in addition to the greens. In fact, you can mix and match greens with fruit to your liking, or what produce you must use up! Ideally it’s 2 types of greens with 2-3 types of fruits plus lemon.

I personally don’t like celery in it (too strong of a flavor for me), so I leave it out.  However, if I’m trying to detox, I’ll add some parsley or cilantro, or both and use more banana or even some dates to sweeten it up.

I love mixing up the greens & fruit, and sometimes using coconut water instead of filtered water. 🙂

The beautiful thing about the GGS is the idea is to drink a quart or so of green smoothie per day to easily get more than the daily recommended servings of fruits and vegetables!

If you don’t have a Blendtec or Vitamix or other high powered blender don’t fret, you can still make the Glowing Green Smoothie!

Just follow our tips on making green smoothies with a “regular” blender.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF ROMAINE AND SPINACH

Romaine:

Just 1 cup of romaine lettuce meets the entire daily requirement of vitamin A. This works with vitamin C to create beautiful skin and prevent high cholesterol.

Spinach:

great recipe Im going to start drinking it and Ill let you know about the results. are you sure that I will lose weight? Im desperate.

    1. Hello Stavroulla! Most people who replace one meal per day with Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie do experience some weight loss. It’s important to drink plenty of filtered water and Kim also recommends taking Mag O7 to help the body detox. If you haven’t read her book The Beauty Detox Solution, you might want to take a look at that as well! 🙂 KEEP US POSTED! xoxo ~Blender Babes

    1. Hello Caroline and WELCOME to BB 🙂 There really are no bad fruits to use. You get to experiment with what suits your taste buds. You just usually want to stick with 2-3 fruits and not many different kinds. I personally love apple, frozen banana and pineapple, it makes it extra thick and tasty! 🙂 Let me know what you try! 🙂 ~Blender Babe Tarashaun

    1. Hi Jerry and WELCOME!! Absolutely. I have never frozen my greens but I have had community members use frozen spinach before and said it gave it a thicker texture the way frozen fruit does! If you have a high powered blender should be no problem at all. 🙂 HAPPY BLENDING!!

    1. Hello Barb and WELCOME to Blender Babes! 🙂 Yes you can absolutely lose weight by drinking green smoothie shakes – especially when you replace one meal a day with it. Most people drink between 16 and 32oz of green smoothie per day, so you can drink as much as you can and work your way up – freeze the rest and thaw the night before you need to rush out the door. We like to use mason jars for this. 🙂 HAPPY BLENDING!! xo

  3. This recipe calls for 5-6 cups, if we store in the refigerator will it still have the same nutritional value if we saved some for a leter time.

    1. Hi Cynthia! Yes you can store your green smoothie in the fridge for up to a day and it should retain most of it’s nutritional value. You can also freeze your leftovers in a mason jar and what I like to do is pull it out the night before to thaw for a morning I need to run out the door. 🙂 Happy Blending!

    1. Hi Mary, great question! The Glowing Green Smoothie (GGS) is Kimberly’s recipe and she adds fruit to sweeten the greens. Other than a green smoothie, Kimberly recommends eating (not drinking) fruit on an empty stomach by itself for maximum digestion. So according to Kim, no more apple pie for dessert! sigh. 😉

  4. I’ve read that you should rotate your greens. How does that work for this? This includes so many different types, I’m not sure what I should take in and out of recipe. Thanks!

    1. Hello Meghana and WELCOME! Yes, and you bring up a great topic. You definitely want to rotate your greens, and for this recipe it’s usually leafy greens. So you would rotate the romaine and spinach with different kinds of kale, chard, dandelion, collards, broccoli, cabbage, etc. Some of these greens are a stronger flavor than spinach for example, so you may want to add sweeter fruit such as pineapple and mango. Happy Blending! xo ~Blender Babes

    1. Hi Rachel, great question not silly at all! I usually buy romaine in a 3 pack from the store so those smaller heads of romaine is good for me. If it’s a vuluptuous head of romaine from the farmer’s market for example, use half. 🙂 Hope that helps and welcome to Blender Babes!

We love it too Margarita! It’s one of the first green smoothies we ever tried! 🙂 Please rate it for the rest of our community if you can. Happy Blending!
