DR. OZ GREEN JUICE RECIPE

This Dr. Oz green juice was originally shared with the world on Oprah! Who wouldn’t want a green juice recipe from one of the most well known doc’s around!

However, Dr. Oz’s green juice is traditionally made with a juice extractor…

Blender Babes tested the famous doc’s green juice by keeping all the fiber and other nutrition (found in skin & seeds, etc.) and liquefying everything with a good high powered blender – and we think it’s just as good!

The amount of liquid is important! Note that 1.5 to 2 cups is needed to make this whole food Dr Oz green juice recipe. The adjusted ingredient amounts are below.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups – 2 cups (12-16 ounces) filtered or spring water
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup cucumber
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 small bunch parsley
  • 2 apples (cored)
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • Juice 1 lime
  • 1 1/2 cups Ice

If you don’t have a powerful blender, you will definitely want to cut this recipe in half, use more water, and follow these blending tips.

Since many of these ingredients are part of the dirty dozen that have the most pesticides, buy what you can organic or use this fruit and veggie wash to remove what you can.

One of our favorites, the new Dr Oz green juice recipe is similar to this one but has more fruit to sweeten it up a bit! 🙂

HEALTH BENEFITS OF THE DR OZ GREEN JUICE

This smoothie is packed with tons of nutrition powerhouses.

Besides providing good levels of vitamins A and K, parsley also has several unusual, helpful components: volatile oils which can inhibit tumor formation, especially in the lungs; and flavonoids, which prevent cell damage associated with various diseases, including asthma, atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease and macular degeneration.

Moreover, Ginger has many benefits unique to itself, lying in components called gingerols.  Several studies show that ginger (fresh not dried) helps reduce nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy, and when used in tea, can relieve symptoms of the common cold and flu, as well as menstrual cramps, headache, and sore throat.

Gingerols appear to be responsible for relieving inflammation associated with arthritis and migraine.

Don’t forget the lime juice! Note that Limes contain flavanol glycosides, which studies show can interfere with cancer cell growth and act as an antibiotic.

What about the Ninja blender? Was aware it was different for those 2 blenders in the video!!

You can use the Ninja blender for this recipe. Depending on the model you use, you can get it fairly smooth! Note it is a very fibrous recipe and the Vitamix and Blendtec blend this Dr. Oz Green Juice to more of a juice-like consistency. 🙂

  3. I tried it and it turned out amazing. What I love most is the choice of ingredients. Seems like you haven’t missed out any nutrients available in nature and have packed everything in one small glass. Plus ginger really enhances the taste of any drink it is added to.

  4. Gorgeous recipe. The quantity of ingredients is always dependent on individual taste.
This is very refreshing, healty and nutritious smoothie!

I watched the video and the info you provide is inaccurate or incorrect.

You list 1 cup of spinach as 240 grams. That’s a half a pound or about $4 where I live. The FDA lists 1 cup of raw spinach as 30 grams. With effort I can get 40 grams in a cup. I’d like to know who or how you guys came up with a figure nearly 8x as much as every source on the net cites for 1 cup of spinach.

You list 1/4 cup of parsley as 60 grams. The FDA says 25 grams in a FULL CUP. Not a quarter. Again you are out by a factor of nearly 8x.

Your cucumber weight is only out by a factor of 2x though since a single cup is rated at 150 grams.

I think a little more attention and research needs to go into what you’re doing before you publish. This is almost farcical.

    1. Hey Jesse! Thanks for the input! This was one of our very first videos and recipes and our editor must have used a bad conversion calculator! We do have a configured conversion calculator within the printable recipe on this page which should be more accurate. Definitely go by the cups and not the grams for the correct recipe amounts. HAPPY BLENDING!
